Pierrepoint Pinot Gris 2009
$27

Tasting Notes

True to its variety, the 2009 Nick's Pick Pinot Gris has fruit aromas reminiscent of pear, honeysuckle and apple that lift out of the glass. These are complemented by a cashew like nutty lees underlay. Overall the bouquet is both complex yet fresh.

The suggested primary fruit aromas evident on the bouquet are replicated in the tasted flavours on the palate. These generous flavours are in turn wonderfully complemented by a balanced thread of natural acid, ensuring both balance and zest. A feature of this wine is its great length, built on the balancing foundation components of fruit flavour, lees influence and minerally acid.

Upfront fresh character, generous yet fine mid palate and graceful length of flavour combine in a rich, balanced, varietally true, Pinot Gris.

Pierrepoint Alexandra Chardonnay 2008
$25

Pierrepoint Alexandra Chardonnay 2008 is a celebration of the first Pierrepoint Chardonnay vintage, produced from french clones (1ha) planted in 2000. Pierrepoint Chardonnay grape yields are typically 2.5 tonnes per hectare and the grapes are hand picked during mid autumn. 13.5% alc.

Tasting Notes

In the glass this wine has a brilliant, green tinged-straw appearance. The nose delivers a complex bouquet with fruit aromas reminiscent of mandarin, rockmelon and peach. These primary aromas are balanced with a mealy, hazelnut-cashew barrel ferment character. When tasted the promised bouquet is delivered as a generous lively flavour, underpinned by a supple natural acid thread that keeps the wine fresh, focussed and fine. Barrel fermentation has contributed subtle textural qualities.

Great minerally length and balance are key attributes.

Pierrepoint George Shiraz
$20

Pierrepoint George Shiraz is a celebration of four generations of George’s within the Lacey family and appropriately, the name George is derived from the Greek word Georgos, meaning a tiller of earth or farmer! The 2007 vintage yielded a very small quantity of Pinot Grapes, the majority of which were sold, so we subsequently sourced some Henty Wine Region shiraz grapes, as a one of, in order to use and protect our oak barrels.

Tasting Notes

To look at the wine shows a dense ruby red. A complex melange of aromas inclusive of blueberry, blackcurrant, white pepper, dutch liquorice, lavender and apricot are subtly underpinned by a clove-like oak influence. When tasted, a velvety attack of rich flavour is true to the bouquet and carries across the palate astride a supple, elegant tannin/acid structure. The flavour is generous and persistant.
